Can you name a spot in the U of K, where besides regular Eddie sightings within feet of where you stand, you can also enjoy the luxury of seeing eggs of the Black and Brown Hairstreak butterfly and the adults in their flight seasons?
Yes, you trawlers of the WWW, word is OUT!  The M40 Compensation Area at Bernwood Forest is the place to be!
The adult Brown Hairstreak  has a reputation as being Britain's most elusive butterfly. The males spend their flight season perched high in the treetops, while the females do their duty searching out likely spots in the blackthorn to deposit their heavy burden of ripe eggs.
The glistening-white eggs of the Brown Hairstreak butterfly are relatively easy to find once you are located near a resident colony.
A number of UTB branch members are surveying for Brown Hairstreak eggs in the Bucks / Oxfordshire borders region this Winter.
