Photos from the field - wow!
Can you tell Brown from Black Hairstreak?

Brown Hairstreak eggs are relatively easy to locate.  This is not true of Black Hairstreak. The year 2004 was a bonanza year for Black Hairstreak with record numbers of adults seen in many locations. This has provided an opportunity for many members to successfully locate eggs for the first time.
Two Brown Hairstreak eggs were found on Hawthorn - see photo below!

The above photo was taken by Dave on one of his first ever solo Brown Hairstreak field trips. He witnessed a mating pair! The literature states that this has only ever been seen once before. That's why we refer to him as 'Super-Dave'!
